About Us

Sail Workshop is a family workshop that has been turning great images into real canvas art since 2015. Every piece is printed, stretched and checked by hand — for one wall, for one person, one order at a time.

It started with one printer and a roll of canvas

In 2015 our family set up a small corner workshop with a single printer, a roll of cotton canvas, a stack of wooden stretcher bars and a lot of stubbornness. We loved art, but we didn't love what we saw on the market: thin, shiny prints that faded within a year, or originals that cost more than a month's rent. We wanted something in between — a canvas that feels like real artwork when you touch its edges, with deep color and honest materials, at a price that lets people actually live with art.

The first pieces went to friends and neighbours. Then strangers started asking for them.

Years of handmade orders

For many years we sold our canvases through one of the world's best-known marketplaces for handmade goods. It was the best school we could have asked for. Order after order, message after message, our customers taught us everything: which frame suits a dark hallway, how large a print should be above a sofa, which blue survives a sunny room, and how to pack a 150 cm canvas so it arrives perfect after crossing an ocean.

We read every review — the five-star ones and the few that stung — and we changed something after almost every one of them. Better bars. Thicker corners. Safer boxes. Faster replies. Those years shaped the way we work today.

Now we also sell directly here on sailworkshop.com, so your order comes straight to our workshop, with no middleman and the same care.

Two workshops, one family

Today Sail Workshop works from two workshops: one in the United States and one in Türkiye. Your order is produced in the workshop that can reach you fastest, so it spends less time in transit and more time on your wall. The materials, the checks and the standards are exactly the same in both — because the same family stands behind both.

Why we still do it by hand

Nothing we sell sits in a warehouse waiting for a buyer. When you order, we print your artwork on 100% organic cotton canvas with archival pigment inks, stretch it by hand over kiln-dried pine bars or set it into the frame you chose, and check every edge and corner before it is packed. Making to order means less waste, and it means the piece you receive was made for you — not pulled from a pile.

It is slower than a factory. We think it is worth it. There is still a small moment of pride every time one of us tightens the last corner of a canvas and knows it will hang in someone's home for years.

The people behind your print

We are a small team, and every person below touches your order in some way.

  • Founder & Creative Director

Curates the collection, chooses every artwork that joins the shop and keeps an eye on every detail — from the color of a frame to the wording of a thank-you note.

  • Print Master

Looks after our color profiles and printers, runs test strips for new artworks and makes sure the blacks are deep and the skin tones true.

  • Head of Framing

Stretches canvases by hand, builds and joins the frames, and checks that every corner is tight, square and clean.

  • Quality & Packing

Gives each piece a final inspection under daylight lamps, adds the hanging hardware and packs it with corner protectors so it arrives safely.

  • Customer Care

Answers your messages by email and WhatsApp in English and Turkish, helps you choose sizes and frames, and follows your order until it is on your wall.

  • Logistics & Shipping

Chooses the fastest route for every parcel, works with express carriers such as FedEx and UPS, and keeps an eye on tracking so you don't have to.

  • Design Studio

Creates our room previews and size guides, and prepares custom orders — your own photos, special sizes and artwork sets for homes and businesses.
